Cataclysmic Variables in eROSITA surveys

Axel Schwope, Annie Standke, Jan Kurpas

Cataclysmic variables (CVs) are ubiquitously found in X-ray surveys. X-ray emission is common to all sub-classes of CVs, although the corresponding luminosity functions are not well constrained due to low number counts. The unprecedented sensitivity of eROSITA will allow to build comprehensive samples of various CV classes to address fundamental questions about close binary evolution, the fraction of magnetic CVs, and the contribution of CVs to the famous Galactic Ridge X-ray Emission. In the talk we will describe the expectations for CV surveys with eROSITA, the already implemented comprehensive optical follow-up programs and early results on selected new CVs found with eROSITA.
