MeerKLASS, the MeerKAT Large Area Synoptic Survey

HI intensity mapping is a novel technique that can to turn radio telescopes into fast survey instruments of the large scale structure of the Universe. A large survey with SKA1-MID should measure dark energy with unprecedented accuracy and probe new physics on ultra large scales. MeerKAT, already in operation, can pave the way to this and produce high impact cosmological constraints on its own. I’ll describe a proposed large sky survey with MeerKAT: MeerKLASS (the MeerKAT Large Area Synoptic Survey) which aims to achieve this, while commensally producing other science both in continuum and HI using this large sky area. I’ll describe the results we have already obtained with a pilot survey and some of the technical issues we have to face (and solve).
